1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how Fi.om ("Fi.om", "we", "us", "our") uses cookies, web beacons, pixels, local storage, session storage, and other similar tracking technologies (collectively referred to as "cookies" in this policy) when you visit and interact with the Fi.om platform at fi.om (the "Platform").

We are committed to being transparent about the technologies we use and to giving you meaningful control over your experience. This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which provides full details of how we collect and process your personal data, and our Terms of Use.

By continuing to browse the Platform after we have posted this policy (or updated it), and where required by applicable law, by consenting through our cookie consent mechanism, you agree to our use of cookies as described in this document.

This is what our cookie consent notice looks like. When you first visit Fi.om, a banner similar to this one appears at the bottom of the screen. You can accept all cookies or manage your preferences individually.

2. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, smartphone, tablet, or other connected device) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work properly, improve user experience, and provide analytical or marketing information to website operators.

Cookies typically contain the following types of information:

  • A unique identifier that distinguishes your device or browser;
  • The name of the website or service that set the cookie;
  • An expiry date (after which the cookie is automatically deleted);
  • Other information relevant to the purpose of the cookie, such as user preferences or session identifiers.

2.1 First-Party vs Third-Party Cookies

First-party cookies are set directly by Fi.om when you visit our Platform. They are used to remember your preferences, maintain your session, and ensure the Platform functions correctly for you.

Third-party cookies are set by external services that we use on the Platform, such as analytics providers or embedded content platforms. These cookies are governed by the privacy policies of those third parties, not solely by Fi.om.

2.2 Session Cookies vs Persistent Cookies

Session cookies are temporary and exist only for the duration of your visit to the Platform. They are deleted automatically when you close your browser and are used, for example, to maintain your login status or preserve information entered across multiple steps of a form.

Persistent cookies remain on your device after your browser session ends, until their expiry date is reached or you manually delete them. They are used, for example, to remember your cookie consent preferences or to provide a more personalised experience on your next visit.

3. Legal Basis for Using Cookies

Fi.om's use of cookies is governed by the Personal Data Protection Law of the Sultanate of Oman (Royal Decree No. 6/2022) and relevant guidance issued by the Information Technology Authority (ITA). Our approach to cookies is also informed by internationally recognised good practices, including those set out by the Global Privacy Assembly.

3.1 Essential Cookies — No Consent Required

Cookies that are strictly necessary for the operation of the Platform — such as those required to maintain your login session, process a loan eligibility form, or preserve your security settings — do not require your consent under applicable law. These cookies are placed by default and cannot be disabled without affecting core Platform functionality.

3.2 Non-Essential Cookies — Consent Required

Cookies that go beyond strict necessity — including analytics cookies, functional/preference cookies, and marketing or advertising cookies — require your freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous consent before they are placed on your device. We obtain this consent through our cookie consent mechanism, which is presented when you first visit the Platform.

3.3 Withdrawing Consent

You may withdraw your consent at any time by adjusting your preferences through our Cookie Preferences Centre (accessible via the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer of every page) or by managing cookies directly in your browser settings. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing that took place before withdrawal.

We will never gate access to essential Platform functionality on your acceptance of non-essential cookies. You can use the core features of Fi.om with only strictly necessary cookies enabled.

4. Types of Cookies We Use

We categorise cookies into four groups based on their purpose. You can manage your consent for each category separately through our Cookie Preferences Centre.

4.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies Essential

These cookies are indispensable for the Platform to function correctly. They enable core features such as user authentication, session management, and security controls. Without these cookies, services you have explicitly requested — such as logging in to your account or completing a loan eligibility form — cannot be provided. These cookies do not collect information that could be used for marketing and cannot be switched off.

Examples include: session identifiers, CSRF (cross-site request forgery) protection tokens, load-balancing cookies, and cookies that remember your cookie consent preferences.

4.2 Functional Cookies Functional

Functional cookies allow the Platform to remember choices you have made and provide enhanced, more personalised features. For example, they may remember your preferred language or currency, the last loan type you searched for, or whether you have previously dismissed an information banner. The information these cookies collect may be anonymised; they cannot track your browsing activity on other websites.

4.3 Analytics and Performance Cookies Analytics

These cookies collect information about how visitors use the Platform — for example, which pages are visited most often, how long visitors spend on each page, whether visitors arrive from a search engine or a direct link, and whether they encounter error messages. The data is aggregated and used solely to improve the performance, design, and content of the Platform. Analytics cookies do not identify you personally.

We may use third-party analytics services (such as Google Analytics) to assist with this analysis. We have configured these services to anonymise IP addresses and to restrict data sharing to minimise the personal information processed.

4.4 Marketing and Targeting Cookies Marketing

Marketing cookies are used to deliver advertisements that are more relevant to you and your interests. They are also used to limit the number of times you see an advertisement and to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. They are usually placed by advertising networks with our permission. They remember that you have visited a website and this information is shared with other organisations such as advertisers. Marketing cookies are entirely optional and are only placed with your explicit consent.

5. Detailed Cookie List

The following table provides information about the specific cookies that may be placed on your device when you visit the Platform.

This list is updated periodically to reflect changes in the cookies we use. Last reviewed: April 2026.

6. Session Storage and Local Storage

In addition to cookies, Fi.om uses two HTML5 web storage technologies: sessionStorage and localStorage. These are stored in your browser locally on your device and are not transmitted to our servers with every request, unlike cookies.

6.1 Session Storage

sessionStorage data is stored temporarily and is automatically cleared when you close the browser tab or window. Fi.om uses sessionStorage to:

  • Preserve your progress through the multi-step loan eligibility form so that you do not lose your data if you navigate between form sections;
  • Store your eligibility result and selected Lender referral information during the current session;
  • Track which loan types you have submitted during the current session to prevent duplicate referrals.

sessionStorage does not persist between sessions and is not shared across browser tabs.

6.2 Local Storage

localStorage data persists until explicitly cleared by you or by the Platform. Fi.om uses localStorage to:

  • Store account information (in encrypted form) to enable the "Remember me" functionality and faster login;
  • Retain your cookie consent preferences;
  • Store user profile data to pre-populate forms where you have given permission.

You can clear localStorage at any time through your browser's settings or developer tools. Doing so will log you out of your Fi.om account and reset any saved preferences.

Web storage (sessionStorage and localStorage) is not accessible to other websites or domains. It is specific to Fi.om's domain and cannot be read by third parties.

7. Third-Party Cookies and Analytics

7.1 Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited ("Google"). Google Analytics places cookies on your device to collect information about how visitors use the Platform, including pages visited, time spent on each page, and the source of traffic. This information is used to compile reports and improve the Platform.

Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. We have configured Google Analytics to anonymise IP addresses, limiting the geographic precision of data collected.

You can prevent Google Analytics from using your data by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

7.2 Firebase Authentication

Fi.om uses Firebase Authentication (provided by Google) to enable secure user registration and login, including sign-in via Google accounts. Firebase may set cookies or use local storage to manage authentication sessions. Firebase's use of data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

7.3 Meta (Facebook) Pixel

With your consent, we use the Meta Pixel to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns on Facebook and Instagram. The Meta Pixel collects information about your actions on the Platform and may link this to your Facebook profile if you are logged into Facebook. You can manage your advertising preferences on Facebook through your Facebook account settings.

7.4 LinkedIn Insight Tag

With your consent, we use LinkedIn's Insight Tag to track conversions from LinkedIn advertising campaigns and to build audiences for retargeting. LinkedIn's use of data is governed by LinkedIn's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of LinkedIn's data collection for targeting purposes through your LinkedIn account settings under "Ads".

8. Cookies and Advertising

Fi.om may participate in interest-based advertising programmes that use cookies to deliver advertisements relevant to your interests across different websites and apps. This is sometimes referred to as "behavioural advertising" or "retargeting".

For example, if you have visited the Platform and viewed a particular loan type, you may subsequently see advertisements for that loan type when browsing other websites. This is achieved by placing marketing cookies (with your consent) that record your visit and interests.

8.1 How We Use Advertising Cookies

We may use advertising cookies to:

  • Display advertisements for Fi.om on third-party websites and platforms;
  • Limit the number of times you see the same advertisement;
  • Measure the click-through rate and conversion rate of advertising campaigns;
  • Build lookalike audiences to reach new potential users with similar characteristics to existing visitors;
  • Attribute sign-ups and completed eligibility forms to the advertising channel that referred you.

8.2 Your Choices

You can opt out of interest-based advertising through our Cookie Preferences Centre, through your browser settings, or through industry opt-out tools such as the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) opt-out page. Please note that opting out of advertising cookies does not mean you will stop seeing advertisements — it means the advertisements you see will be less tailored to your interests.

9. How to Manage and Control Cookies

You have several ways to manage your cookie preferences. We encourage you to use these controls so that your experience on Fi.om reflects your privacy preferences.

9.1 Cookie Preferences Centre

The easiest way to manage your cookie preferences is through our Cookie Preferences Centre. You can access it at any time via the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer of every page on the Platform. The Preferences Centre allows you to:

  • Accept all categories of cookies with a single click;
  • Reject all non-essential cookies with a single click;
  • Granularly enable or disable each category of cookie (functional, analytics, marketing) individually;
  • View a description of each cookie category before making a choice;
  • Change your preferences at any time.

Your preferences are saved in a cookie (fi_cookie_consent) so that they persist across visits. If you clear your cookies, your preferences will be reset and you will be shown the consent banner again.

9.2 Consent Withdrawal

You may withdraw consent for any non-essential cookie category at any time through the Cookie Preferences Centre. Withdrawal takes effect immediately for future page loads. It does not retroactively remove cookies that have already been set, but those cookies will expire on their scheduled date and will not be renewed.

10. Browser-Level Cookie Controls

All major browsers allow you to manage cookies through their settings menus. The following links provide guidance on cookie management for the most common browsers:

  • Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Apple Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data
  • Opera: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies

Through your browser settings you can typically:

  • View all cookies currently stored on your device and delete them individually or in bulk;
  • Block all cookies from all websites;
  • Block third-party cookies while allowing first-party cookies;
  • Configure your browser to notify you before a cookie is placed so that you can accept or decline on a site-by-site basis;
  • Enable "private" or "incognito" browsing mode, in which cookies are not stored after your session ends.

For mobile devices, cookie management is typically found in the settings of your mobile browser app or within the Privacy settings of your device's operating system.

11. Consequences of Disabling Cookies

While we respect your right to manage cookies, disabling certain types of cookies may affect your experience on the Platform:

11.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

If you block strictly necessary cookies (e.g., by setting your browser to block all cookies), you will not be able to log in to your Fi.om account, complete the loan eligibility form across multiple steps, or maintain any session on the Platform. Core functionality will be unavailable.

11.2 Functional Cookies

Blocking functional cookies means the Platform will not be able to remember your preferences (such as language settings or previously dismissed notices) between sessions. You may need to re-enter preferences on each visit.

11.3 Analytics Cookies

Blocking analytics cookies does not affect your ability to use the Platform. However, it means we receive less information about how users interact with the Platform, which may reduce our ability to identify and fix usability issues.

11.4 Marketing Cookies

Blocking marketing cookies means you will not receive personalised advertisements from Fi.om on other platforms. It will also limit our ability to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns. Your use of the Platform itself is not affected.

12. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, applicable law, business practices, or the cookies we use. When we make material changes, we will:

  • Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page;
  • Post a notice on the Platform or send an email notification to registered users where required by applicable law;
  • Where required, seek fresh consent for any new categories of cookies that are not covered by your existing consent.

We encourage you to review this Cookie Policy periodically to stay informed about how we use cookies. The most current version of this policy is always available at fi.om/cookies.html.

Your continued use of the Platform after a revised Cookie Policy has been posted constitutes your acknowledgement of those changes. If you do not agree to the revised policy, you may adjust your cookie preferences or cease using the Platform.

13. Contact Us

If you have any questions, concerns, or feedback about this Cookie Policy or our use of cookies, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are committed to responding to all written enquiries within five (5) business days.
